Locust Lake anchors Locust Lake Village, a private residential community of roughly 1,600 properties tucked into the woods northeast of Blakeslee in Pocono Lake, PA. It's one of four lakes shared across the community — alongside Pines Lake, East Lake, and Pilgrim Lake — each with a swimming beach, picnic areas, and non-motorized boating (electric motors permitted). Homes here range from classic mid-century Pocono cabins to larger year-round residences, set among mature pine and hardwood forest on quiet, winding roads. It's about a 15-minute drive to Big Boulder and Jack Frost, and 25 minutes to Camelback and Camelbeach Waterpark.

How It Came to Be

Before Locust Lake Village existed, this stretch of Pocono Lake was undeveloped forest, named for the native locust trees once common throughout the area. Like much of the region, it drew postwar interest in vacation property through the late 1960s and into the 1970s, when developers platted the community's roads and built out its four lakes for residents.

Today the community is self-governed by the Locust Lake Village Property Owners Association — a mid-sized private lake community, smaller than Arrowhead Lake or Lake Naomi, but with the same lake-centered, cabin-community character that's defined this part of Monroe County for decades.
