Camelback's warm-weather adventure park on the mountain at 243 Resort Drive. Treetop Adventures is a three-level course of about three hours that Camelback bills as Pennsylvania's largest treetop course. There are two ziplines, a 1,000-foot line and a 4,000-foot run, plus the Mountain Coaster, a sled-style ride the rider controls at speeds up to 25 mph with mountain views on the way down. Lower-key options include an 18-hole mini golf course and Sunbowl Tubing, a downhill summer tubing run, and the park also runs the Scenic UTV Tour. Hours vary by day and season, and tickets are sold online. It's an easy half-day stop for a group with mixed appetites for adrenaline.

Steamtown National Historic Site

A National Park Service site on Scranton's former rail yards, preserving a working collection of steam locomotives and rolling stock with a roundhouse, museum, and seasonal excursion trains. The grounds sit on the same yards where the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad once operated, and the roundhouse and turntable are still active, functioning pieces of railroad infrastructure rather than static displays. A visit can range from a quick walk through the museum exhibits to a full afternoon that includes a ride on one of the seasonal excursion trains. The National Park Service charges no entrance fee for the park; its fees page had not published 2026 excursion fares as of October 18, 2026.

The combination ticket with Big Boulder gives skiers access to two distinct trail systems and difficulty profiles on the same pass, and Jack Frost's generally smaller crowds make for a more relaxed day on the mountain than the region's busier resorts.

1000 ft Vertical 6 Lifts

A 1,000-foot vertical drop and 26 trails just outside Scranton, with a genuine expert-terrain reputation thanks to steep pitches like Smoke and White Lightning alongside gentler intermediate cruisers. The 1,000-foot vertical is among the largest in the region, giving experienced skiers a longer, more sustained run than most nearby resorts offer, while the intermediate trails keep it accessible for less advanced groups. Two terrain parks round out the offering for freestyle skiers and riders.

Jam Room Brewing Co. is a music-themed brewery and taproom on Creamery Road in Greentown, just off Interstate 84 along Route 507 in the Pocono Lake Region. It was started by five longtime friends who wanted to combine craft beer and live music, and in 2023 the brewery installed a new 10-barrel brewing system. The house list rotates through session ales, a brown ale, IPAs, a lager, a golden ale, a hefeweizen and stouts, along with cider and seasonal collaborations. Food comes from Sound Bites, the restaurant inside the brewery, which serves shareable plates, sandwiches, nachos and mac and cheese, plus a kids' menu. Live performances by local and regional acts are central to the place, and the schedule is posted on the brewery's website. A patio adds outdoor seating in warm weather. It is a practical stop for families and groups in the Lake Wallenpaupack area.

Fall Downtown Mount Pocono

A family-friendly craft festival filling downtown Mount Pocono with local vendors, seasonal food, and community entertainment each fall. It's a smaller, more community-scaled event than some of the region's bigger festivals, with a genuine small-town feel and a manageable size that makes it easy to see the whole thing in an afternoon. The local craft vendor focus makes it a good stop for picking up handmade gifts or seasonal decor.

Monroe/Wayne County Est. 1958

Gouldsboro State Park covers 2,800 acres in Monroe and Wayne counties and is centered on the 250-acre Gouldsboro Lake. The park is named for the village of Gouldsboro, itself named for the financier Jay Gould, whose Erie-Lackawanna rail line parallels the park's eastern boundary and is now part of the Steamtown National Historic Site excursion route between Scranton and Pocono Summit. From about 1900 to 1936, the lake was the site of an active ice industry, and the land was part of the federal Tobyhanna Military Reservation before the state park opened in 1958. The lake holds bass, pickerel, yellow perch, catfish, sunfish, walleyes and crappies. Boating is electric motors only, at slow, no-wake speed, with 50 overnight mooring spaces and boat rentals daily from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. A sand beach is open from late May to mid-September, and an ADA accessible fishing pier and picnic pavilion are available. Snowmobiles are prohibited in the park.

Monroe County Est. 1949

Tobyhanna State Park covers 5,440 acres in Monroe and Wayne counties and includes the 170-acre Tobyhanna Lake. The park opened in 1949 on part of the former Tobyhanna Military Reservation, which the federal government acquired in 1912, and the camping area was added in 1959. A sand beach is open from late May to mid-September, and the lake has 78 overnight mooring spaces, boat rentals from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, and an ADA accessible fishing pier. Boating is electric motors only at slow, no-wake speed. The 140-site campground is open from mid-April through mid-October, and the park has five rustic organized group tent sites. The 1,600-acre Black Bear and Bender Swamps Natural Area, made up of acidic shrub swamps, is part of the park. A one-way, 5.1-mile snowmobile trail runs on Lakeside Trail in winter. DCNR warns that visitors in remote, undeveloped areas could encounter old, unexploded artillery shells.
