Luxury Winter Escapes Near Jack Frost Mountain

August 15, 2024

Several of our mountain residences sit minutes from Jack Frost — close enough for a full ski day and a leisurely dinner back at the residence. Here's what makes it work.

Jack Frost Big Boulder consistently ranks among the Poconos' best ski destinations, and its proximity to several of our mountain and lakefront residences means a genuine ski-in convenience without sacrificing the space and privacy of a private home. The Ridge Summit, in particular, sits close enough to Jack Frost that groups are regularly on the lift within twenty minutes of leaving the house.

The advantage of basing a ski trip out of a residence rather than a slopeside condo becomes obvious by the second day: real space to spread out wet gear, a full kitchen for a hearty breakfast before hitting the mountain, and — critically — enough bedrooms that a group of twelve isn't sharing two bathrooms. We arrange lift tickets and rental equipment in advance for every ski package booking, so the only line your group waits in is the lift line.

The après-ski experience is where these residences really separate themselves. Several properties feature 20-foot stone fireplaces, home saunas, and heated garages for ski storage — small details that matter enormously after a full day in the cold. Add a private chef preparing a warm, substantial dinner, and the evening becomes as much a part of the trip as the skiing itself.

Snow conditions in the Poconos run reliably from mid-December through early March, with Jack Frost and Camelback both running snowmaking operations that keep runs consistent even in lighter-snow years. We recommend booking six to eight weeks ahead for peak holiday and President's Day weekends, when both the mountain and the best residences fill quickly.
