Indoor Waterparks in the Pocono Mountains: Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge and Aquatopia Compared

October 11, 2026

Three big indoor waterparks within a few miles of each other off I-80 and I-380, how they differ, which sell day passes, and the smaller one at Split Rock that's closed for now.

The Poconos have three large indoor waterparks, and they sit within a few miles of each other where I-80 meets I-380: Kalahari Resorts in Pocono Manor, Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun and Aquatopia at Camelback in Tannersville. All three run year-round, all three sell passes to visitors who aren't staying the night, and each has a different personality. A fourth, smaller park at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony is closed until further notice.

Key Takeaways

  • I.Kalahari is the biggest at 220,000 square feet, Aquatopia is 125,000 and Great Wolf Lodge is 120,000 (Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau and the resorts, retrieved 2026-10-11).
  • II.Great Wolf Lodge and Aquatopia keep the water at 84 degrees, and Aquatopia has a transparent roof that lets in daylight.
  • III.All three include waterpark access with an overnight stay and sell day passes to non-guests. Kalahari's day passes can sell out, so reserve ahead.
  • IV.Split Rock Resort's smaller waterpark in Lake Harmony says it will "remain closed until further notice," so don't plan around it yet.

Where are the Pocono indoor waterparks?

Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge and Aquatopia form a tight cluster around the I-80 and I-380 interchange near Mount Pocono and Tannersville, so you could visit any of them from the same base. Split Rock is about 15 miles west in a straight line, near Lake Harmony.

Kalahari Resorts, Pocono Manor

Kalahari is the largest of the three at 220,000 square feet, with an Africa theme throughout (Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, April 23, 2026). It has a wave pool, a lazy river, a FlowRider surf machine, several children's areas and an adults-only swim-up bar. Signature rides include Barreling Baboon and Anaconda, which add virtual-reality versions, and the Cheetah Race. It's at 250 Kalahari Boulevard and listed under Tobyhanna Lake.

Who it suits: groups with a wide age range, since parents get a swim-up bar while kids split between thrill slides and play areas.

Beyond the water: the family entertainment center adds arcade games and other indoor activities, and the resort also has Gorilla Grove Treetop Adventures, Spa Kalahari and a Build-A-Bear shop. On-site dining runs from casual to sit-down: B-Lux Grill & Bar is a no-fuss family pub, while Sortino's Italian Kitchen and Double Cut Charcoal Grill are the $$$ sit-down options.

Day passes: sold to non-guests, but they can sell out, so book online before you drive.

Aquatopia at Camelback, Tannersville

Aquatopia is 125,000 square feet with 13 rides and slides, attached to Camelback Lodge at 193 Resort Drive (Camelback Resort, retrieved 2026-10-11). Its transparent roof lets in daylight, and the water stays at 84 degrees. Camelback calls its Storm Chaser the longest indoor water coaster in the world and its Venus SlydeTrap a one-of-a-kind combination slide. There's also a themed Adventure River that runs underground, a wave pool and a FlowRider. It's open daily from 10 AM to 8 PM and listed under Lake Naomi.

Who it suits: families who want daylight indoors in winter, and anyone who wants to pair the waterpark with skiing.

Beyond the water: Camelback Mountain Resort is next door, with 39 ski trails, 16 lifts and an 800-foot vertical in winter. In summer, Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark, Pennsylvania's largest outdoor water park with more than 30 slides on 26 acres, runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. At the lodge, Neptunes holds a 4.3 out of 5 rating from more than 11,800 Google reviews, and Trails End Pub & Grill has mountain views and outdoor fire pits.

Day passes: day and twilight tickets are sold to non-guests; access is included with an overnight stay.

Great Wolf Lodge, Scotrun

Great Wolf Lodge's 120,000-square-foot waterpark at 1 Great Wolf Drive is kept at 84 degrees year-round (Great Wolf Lodge, retrieved 2026-10-11). The centerpiece is Fort Mackenzie, a multi-level interactive treehouse, alongside the Alberta Falls tube slide, Double Barrel Drop, Hydro Plunge, River Canyon Run, Slap Tail Pond and Cub Paw Pool for toddlers. Slide height minimums range from 36 to 54 inches, so check each ride before promising it to a small child. It's listed under Tobyhanna Lake.

Who it suits: families with younger kids, given the toddler pool and the treehouse.

Beyond the water: Howlers Peak Ropes Course is on-site, and Great Wolf Lodge Dining offers casual buffet and quick-service meals.

Day passes: half-day and full-day passes are sold to non-guests, and children 2 and under are free. Overnight guests get waterpark access with their stay.

Did we miss any? The Split Rock waterpark

The one other indoor waterpark in the area is at Split Rock Resort, 428 Moseywood Road in Lake Harmony, branded Water Park H2O on the resort's site and known locally as H2Oooohh! As of October 2026 the resort says it "will remain closed until further notice," and several attractions were listed as closed or out of order (Split Rock Resort, retrieved 2026-10-11). When it is open, it's smaller than the big three, with the Hurricane Cove wave pool, the Amazon Blast slide, the Piranha and Viper slides and a toddler area called Leaping Lizards. Check the resort's site for a reopening date. It's listed under Lake Harmony.

Which Pocono indoor waterpark should you pick?

  • Biggest variety and something for adults: Kalahari, for its size and adults-only swim-up bar.
  • Youngest kids: Great Wolf Lodge, for Cub Paw Pool and Fort Mackenzie.
  • Daylight and a ski day in the same trip: Aquatopia, for the transparent roof and Camelback's slopes next door.
  • Day trip without an overnight: all three sell passes, but book Kalahari's early since they can sell out.

Tips before you go

1. Buy passes online in advance, especially on weekends and school holidays. 2. Check height minimums for the slides you care about. At Great Wolf they range from 36 to 54 inches. 3. Confirm hours on the day. Aquatopia lists 10 AM to 8 PM daily; the others vary by season. 4. Bring a backup plan if you're visiting for a rainy day. Our rainy day guide covers museums, mine tours and an indoor golf taproom.
